Why can't I eat in front of friends?

2 years ago at my birthday party, I got sick in front of my friends, and ever since, even when I am at a friend's house, I cannot eat. My stomach just shrinks... So today is my 18th birthday and for dinner my family, one of my friends, and I are going to a hibachi restaurant,.,, and im afraid that it'll happen and then i'll look like an idiot and end up wasting my parents $$..

Anyone know why this happens? I get anxious alot..Why can't I eat in front of friends?
Ok, sometimes your brain likes to trick you, makes you think automatic thoughts, like I'm the ugliest person on earth even though you're pretty or I will die if I board a plane.. etc.

So you have to take control!

You says that you're anxious, and as I see it the worst scenario would be that you threw up. That is the worst thing that could happen. Ask yourself how big is that chance you do?

Second, what would make you feel better in the situation?

Have you talked to your parents or friend about this?

What causes the anxiousness?

Is it that your are afraid of throwing up, or is it something else?

Sometimes when you're anxious you feel sick, it might sound harsh but the only thing to do is to stay in the "moment" to see what happens. Take deep breaths. You can think of a scale from 1 to ten, if ten is the worst and say that right now is a 10, take 2 deep breaths and feel again, is it a 9 or still a 10?

Sometimes you need help before it gets worse. I think you should talk to your friend and paretns abou it.

Good luck and happy birthday! Why can't I eat in front of friends?
dunno tbh. it happens to my friend. she used to suffer from panic attacks and i don't think there's much you can do about it other than counselling.. but it's a pretty small thing to get it for :/ so i don't think there's a lot you can do except tell yourself you won't embarrass yourself. :)

mine?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;鈥?/a>
you are nervous. Just eat little bites of food and try to relax. If you don't eat it all just say you were really excited about your birthday and take it home to eat later in private. You might want to think of other activities for your birthday in the future like bowling or dancing and just eat with your family. Why can't I eat in front of friends?
aw. you have anxiety.

dont worry this happens to me too actually

except i have a fear of throwing up :/

but you can't let this control you and not let you have fun.

eat small bites not too much and not too fast.

i promise you'll be fine.

live your life right? (:

have funn and happy birthday:DD
I can't eat in front of my friends either, it's just the constant fear that you might have a repeat of what has happened in the past.

Just try stay calm, and everything will be fine.

If you start feeling wierd, count to ten in your head, or say the ABC's.

Hope I helped. Why can't I eat in front of friends?
whats the difference between eating in front of your friends or family memebers. but yeah anxiouity does get the best of you. all i can say is eat slow and goodluck.

Is it ok for a baby/toddler to eat sushi?

So today is my b-day and I'm going out to dinner and taking my 17 month old with us. I know my hubby and I will probably order sushi. Is it ok to give a toddler sushi? Or should I get the hibachi meal and my hubby get sushi and we split so my son won't have to eat sushi.

sushi... mmmmmmm LOLIs it ok for a baby/toddler to eat sushi?
Damn, I am now going to obsess over salmon sashimi all day!

California rolls are probably okay. You might want to just get an appetizer or side to share with your toddler (steamed veggies and rice? teriyaki chicken and rice?), or maybe get a combo plate - the sushi place I normally go to allows you to add 6 pieces of sushi or sashimi to a hibachi meal for a reasonable price,Is it ok for a baby/toddler to eat sushi?
NO! It is fine to eat while pregnant, as your body will defend your baby against bacteria. But a baby may get VERY sick from it, even if the sushi is fresh!

HOWEVER, there is some sushi a baby can eat, like vegetarian sushi and tomago (which is just cooked egg). Also, fish that are cooked already like eel or mackerel.
Depends on what type you are talking about giving him? But your concern should already be your answer so go with the hibachi meal.Is it ok for a baby/toddler to eat sushi?
I personally wouldn't risk it. A toddlers stomach is a lot more delicate then an adults. While we may be able to fight off parasites, your toddler may not. Happy Birthday!!!
Sushi can carry parasites. The risk is small but there so I would get a hibachi for your toddler. Is it ok for a baby/toddler to eat sushi?
you should not as sushi can contain parasites...
I'd give it to him without thinking twice
He should be fine eating sushi. Sounds really yummmy.
If you live close to the coast, I'd have no qualms but if you're landlocked, I'd be less likely.

Is Benihana's a good Japanese restaurant in Atlanta.?

Im going to Atlanta ( for my birthday) this October 9 and want a good Japanese hibachi restaurant . Is Benihanas good?Is Benihana's a good Japanese restaurant in Atlanta.?
Benihana's is a decent, servicable restaurant generally patronized by people who are not afficienados -- (I doubt I spelled that correctly) of Japanese food. When my daughter was young and I introduced her to hibachi cooking, that was where we went. Now, we generally hit more obscure, non-chain places.

You'll enjoy it. Have fun. (If it wasn't good, the restaurant wouldn't have so many locations, or be in business for so many years!)Is Benihana's a good Japanese restaurant in Atlanta.?
Benihanas is to Japanese food as Red Lobster is to Seafood.

Passable but never the best choice.

Will you get a good meal and have a good time at Benihana? Yes you will. Is it the best in town? I'm no fan of that style of cooking and there may be better options out there. I don't know. But don't go there expecting the best meal you've ever eaten. You'll be disappointed. Go there with a group expecting some fun and some good food and maybe get a shrimp (or two) tossed in your lap. Try the YumYum sauce. Is Benihana's a good Japanese restaurant in Atlanta.?
I love Benihana's. Everything is good there.

i went to a hibachi restraunt last night, and had salmon it tasted a little odd to me but i ate it anyway. i havent been throwing up any, or even needed to. but my stomach has been killing me all morning. i kind of had diarhea. is this food poisoning or what?Is this food poisoning?
It sounds like a minor case to me.Is this food poisoning?
Food poisoning comes in many forms, and it may not even be the salmon. Could be cross-contamination, from chemicals or could be from something you ate earlier.
It could be very mild food poisoning. It sounds like it just didn't agree with you. with food poisoning its like projectile vomiting. Is this food poisoning?
it might be , you might wanna get it checked out however in most cases you would be throwing up like mad!
the salmon could have been slightly off.Is this food poisoning?
I don't think so, maybe it just wasn't agreeing with your stomach.

can't you make it yourself, also on a side note i find it odd how people use cravings as an excuse to eat. Yes pregnant women have strange craving but it's not like their going to die if they don't eat it yet they use it as an excuse to try some weird combination

Where in Seoul, South Korea can i get a standing, charcoal grill?

Not a Korean grill or a small hibachi-type grill. But a regular U.S.-style grill. ThanksWhere in Seoul, South Korea can i get a standing, charcoal grill?
They DO have standing grills in Korea, but not in the shape you expect. I recently saw some at Homeplus that are rectangular with no lid.

In the past, they've had hooded grills, but I haven't seen any this year.Where in Seoul, South Korea can i get a standing, charcoal grill?
I am sure some of the larger department stores may have something like a Weber, but if you have access to someone on Yongsan, it is somewhat illegal, if you are not authorized, but you could get them to get you one from AAFES.Where in Seoul, South Korea can i get a standing, charcoal grill?
Have you tried the Base Exchange? [bx] or perhaps the PX on the Army installation? They have everything that you would need in barbecuing equipment.

    Ichibon/samurai zucchini recipe?

At the Asian restaurants Ichibon and Samurai (basically the same place) whenever I order hibachi steak, it comes with these fried vegetables (they might be sauted or something...) that taste like they're in teriyaki or soy sauce. the vegetables are zucchini and onions, maybe asian spaghetti (idk) and some other ones that might be lettuce or cabbage or something. Does anyone know a recipe for something like this?

    Thanks :)Ichibon/samurai zucchini recipe?
This is the nice, sweet, thick Teriyaki sauce you get from your favorite take-out joint? Now you can have it at home. - use this sauce to sautee the veggies etc

    1/4 cup soy sauce

    1 cup water

    1/2 teaspoon ground ginger

    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

    5 tablespoons packed brown sugar

    1-2 tablespoon honey

    2 tablespoons cornstarch

    1/4 cup cold water

    1. Mix all but cornstarch and 1/4c water in a sauce pan and begin heating. Mix cornstarch and cold water in a cup and dissolve. Add to sauce in pan. Heat until sauce thickens to desired thickness. Add water to thin if you over-thick it :).

Where can I find a Japanese grill?

I want one of those stainless steel or aluminum ones. Preferably one I can use on the stove or just one to plug in. I think they are technically called "teppanyaki" grills, although in the U.S. we commonly refer to them as "hibachi." I have looked all over the internet. I am looking for one that is very inexpensive, so please don't offer any suggestions of ones that are over $200.Where can I find a Japanese grill?
There is a big difference between a hibachi and teppanyaki grill.

In the West, a hibachi is a small, portable grill inspired by the Japanese shichirin. In Japanese, a hibachi is actually a form of heater, traditionally used in the winter to warm a room. Like many borrowed concepts and words, the hibachi evolved as it spread across the Pacific Ocean. This can be a source of confusion to people who straddle Japan and the West, since the term is used so differently. In both senses, the etymology is the same, as hi means “fire” in Japanese, while a bachi is a bowl, so a hibachi is a bowl which holds fire, or “fire bowl.”

In the original Japanese sense, the hibachi was used by members of the upper and middle class during the often bitter Japanese winters through the twentieth century. The concept of a large charcoal heater was imported from China at some point in Japanese history, probably around 1000 CE. Early hibachis were made of wood lined with clay, while more complex and decorative hibachis began to appear with fancy ornaments, lacquer, and gold leaf. In addition to heating a room, a traditional hibachi could be used to keep a pot of tea or plate of food warm.

In the sense of a grill, a hibachi is a small open style grill made by placing a sturdy grill over a container which may be oval, square, or rectangular. The container is used to hold charcoal for cooking, just like the bowl of a full sized grill. To be termed a true hibachi, the grill must be at least ostensibly portable, and the small grills are in fact often carried on camping trips for use as outdoor stoves. Hibachis have no lids, and they can be used to grill a wide assortment of foods from vegetable kebabs to cuts of chicken and fish.

Construction materials used for hibachis vary. High quality stoves will be made from cast iron, which makes them sturdy, although much less portable. Cheaper tin and steel versions are also available, although they are less durable. In both cases, the traditional fuel is charcoal, although some hibachis are gas fired for convenience.

Many restaurants use hibachis to flame or finish food, since they are small enough to be used without posing a danger to diners, and many diners like to watch their food being cooked. Japanese restaurants in the United States may refer to their shichirins as hibachis, to avoid confusion. Whatever one calls them, the small grilling stoves play an important role in Japanese cooking, which places a heavy focus on fresh, perfectly cooked ingredients.

Teppanyaki (鉄板焼き, teppan'yaki?) is a type of Japanese cuisine that uses an iron griddle (teppan) to cook food.

Anyway, I don't think you are going to find a teppanyaki table, cart or whatever for that price. They are priced in the thousands.

How about a electric stainless steel griddle, which is basically the same thing. Such as one of these, which is within your budget.

What are some fun, authentic elements I can include in a Japanese birthday party?

My daughter is turning 9 this year and will be having a few of her friends in a party room at a hibachi restaurant. While it is my understanding that hibachi grills are mostly an American invention, I would like to incorporated truly Japanese qualities into the rest of the party.

We are starting with origami invitations. I thought about making CDs of Japanese music as favors but I am completely unversed in popular Japanese artists and/or not sure what songs would be good for this crowd.

Any other ideas? Remember these are third grade girls and cheap solutions are always great for Mom!What are some fun, authentic elements I can include in a Japanese birthday party?
The Japanese do not have birthday parties like we do in the West. Parents simply take the birthday boy/girl somewhere fun they like to go or to a restaurant. 3rd graders are not quite ready for pop music so the music part of it is hard. If they were middle schoolers, I would have many suggestions on what groups are currently popular, but 3rd graders would probably be better off with music from anime soundtracks. Some major CD/book/video stores even have an anime section. Find out what anime/cartoons your daughter likes and look for the soundtrack of that and other related shows. Apple's iTunes allows you to purchase songs $0.99 each. Even if you don't have an iPod, you can download their free software and burn CDs of your legally purchased tracks. They of course sell music from many Japanese artists.

Hibatchi-San is a fast-food style place in several St. Louis Area malls. Chesterfield's mall, St. Louis Mills Mall (hazelwood), but the only one i can think of in St. Louis is the Galleria Mall (you can see it while driving on 170)

I don't exactly remember what they all serve, but i used to get teriyaki chicken or steak that came with a side of rice (white or fried) and other vegetables were mixed in there. I don't remember the price but it's kinda fast food-ish.

chefs make no money. I don't know about you but I plan on pushing mine into the most affluent career that is possible, given his skill set. he's 2 so I am not completely aware of what his skill set is, other than whining... and talking about cars.Am I being short-sighted by encouraging my 8 year old's new career aspirations?
    No, that's awesome!

And to be perfectly honest, in a year, maybe just a month, she'll probably loose interest and want to do something else, and that's totally ok too. But if she wants to be a chef of any kind that's a pretty awesome and ambitious aspiration! And it comes back with most excellent food.Am I being short-sighted by encouraging my 8 year old's new career aspirations?
    nothing wrong with encouragement.

I'm curious about chinese and japanese meat?

I know everyone's always heard the rumors about you're really eating cats and dogs but I never believed it. Well I love japanese hibachi and their teryaki chicken. But I've noticed their chicken is a lot different from chicken I've eaten before(%26amp; mostly all i eat is chicken) They put it on a plate %26amp; there's about 5-6 very thick, long, wide strips of it. Like long as the plate %26amp; they're all in once piece, not chopped up. Now this is a very upscale restaurant BTW. Just wondering though is it really chicken??I'm curious about chinese and japanese meat?
who cares.I'm curious about chinese and japanese meat?
    XD

Yeah, I'm 99.9% sure it's chicken. People are just being stupid and inflating stuff like this. You know how people were/are saying Obama is a terrorist because his middle name is Hussein? Yeah...

Dog meat is legal in China, but those dogs are bred to be eaten. I personally don't get what's so much worse about it..we breed cows and pigs to be killed, right? (okay sorry for that little rant..lol).

Maybe the restaurant cuts the breasts of the chick for that? Or somehow cuts it diagonal? I dunno.I'm curious about chinese and japanese meat?
I have seen fried chicken patty as big as a dinner plate in Taiwan. The meat was not minced. It was one giant continuous piece! It was just a piece of chicken breast sliced and prepared in a special fashion. Very interesting to see and pretty tasty and 100% chicken meat.

You don't need to worry about cats and dogs in the US. You will not be able to find any of them in a restaurant. I've never seen dogs and cats been served as food in Japan. Accidentally eating any dish containing dog or cat in China is almost impossible in most regions except in Guangxi.

@sara: Chinese do not breed dogs for human consumption nor was the practice legal. It was something semi-under table. What you described was Korean.I'm curious about chinese and japanese meat?
Wholesale raw chicken meat (already dressed, boned %26amp; skinned) is about 40 cents a pound. Since you cannot BUY cat meat, you'd have to pay someone to catch, kill, dress %26amp; prepare the cat meat, and it would end up costing perhaps ten times what the chicken does....

What would be the reason to do that?
one never knows, does one? hahahahaha!!!!

I heard they do hibachi and also have a sushi bar!Has anyone ever tried HB Japanese Steak House in Houston? If so, i would like to know how it went.?
the food is ok. Nothing to get excited about, but the atmosphere is cool, since they cook in front of you, and the chefs put on a show. But again, my husband and I were not impressed with the food, nor sushi. It's kinda pricey too. It's a great place for a get together thoughHas anyone ever tried HB Japanese Steak House in Houston? If so, i would like to know how it went.?
I went there for my friends bachelorette party! I thought the food was great, and it takes a lot to impress my taste buds. Our chef was so funny and made everybody laugh and put on a great show. The wait staff was very slow brining our drinks, but other than that it was great. I've been back a few times for lunch and dinner. I would recommend it.

I am looking for some good hibatchi recipes?

i want to make hibachi steak and also japanese fried rice, does anyone have any good recipes out there?I am looking for some good hibatchi recipes?
Hibachi steak is pretty basic. Slather up your steaks with teriyaki and let them marinate for few hours. Then lightly grill the steaks on a grill until rare. While they are grilling, heat up a frying pan with some vegetable oil (not too much, or your steak will be oily!). When the steaks are rare, take them off the grill and cut them into slices. Transfer them to the frying pan with any vegetables desired--mushrooms, peppers, onions are some good additions. Season with salt and pepper as desired.

Fried rice is also really easy. Start with regular white rice and cook it the way you normally would (1 cup rice, 1.5 cups water, cooked in a pot until light and fluffy but not wet) then let it cool. Lightly scramble 2 eggs in a little vegetable oil. Remove the eggs and chop them up into little pieces. Dice up a red pepper and set it aside. Then stir-fry the rice for a few minutes in vegetable oil, adding soy sauce as it cooks. Finally, add in the eggs and finely chopped red peppers into the pan and stir them together.

    Can anyone recommend a restaurant.

I could be wrong, but I don't think NYC is really known for it's Hibachi. Would you settle for Korean BBQ? You would definitely find plenty of good places in Koreatown.

What's a good place to eat at for Prom?

I need a place that accepts dinner reservations on a saturday night for 6-7 people. anyone know a place that's a little upper class but not too fancy yet not too casual?

-can't be some place smelly ( don't want to be walking into prom smelling like a hibachi grill)

-Must be in Atlanta GA.What's a good place to eat at for Prom?

Try Eros Tapas Bar. It's nice and very trendy and in a really cool building (where Pie Bar used to be). They play cool music and sometimes have a DJ. You can eat outside or in. It's a tapas restaurant, so most stuff on the menu is around $5. The portions are smaller, but you can order as much or as little as you want and share with everyone at the table. What's a good place to eat at for Prom?

    http://www.wikihow.com/Make-Miso-Soup

great link and really works and also comes with vidAnybody know how to make Miso soup?
Nope.Anybody know how to make Miso soup?
    1 block tofu

    3-4 tbsps miso paste

    1/4 cup chopped green onion

    3 cups dashi soup stock

    2T dried seaweed

This is a basic recipe for miso soup. Let me tell you something simple. Most miso soups use shrimp broth but using chicken stock or beef is fine if none is available. It calls for dashi which can usually be found in Walmart or stores in the Asian Isle, but if not then you can use shrimp base like the kind you find in Ramen but not Ramen. It is found in boxes called Dashinomoto or pellet form. The same stuff frozen saimin has in its packages. Another thing is to add seaweed, you can usually find kombu or more popular wakame dried. Just add a few pinches to the soup for an authentic flavor. As for the packaged broth I would go 1 package per 2cups of soup.

This is from someone else who asked, just a little extra info.

Dashi is a shrimp or squid broth and is found as a dry shaved looking item. It is similar to the stuff that is packaged in Ramen packs but has a totally separate unique flavor. You can sometimes find dehydrated seaweed usually of anykind in the store in the Asian isle. They usually use kombu but any is fine. There are directions on the containder usually and you can usually just put it all together and then let it boil. Adjust to flavor. Another way to do it is to add tofu with the green onions even some shrimp if you like. Sometimes you can find dashi in pellet form and remember it is Shrimp broth. If you cannot find shrimp broth dry then you can substitute it with half a can of consomme and half water. Or you can bake shrimp shells with salt and make a stock with some water. Or fry them. Good luck!

Am I a freak because I have dreams of being a canibal?

usually there's a hibachi, and some rib meat or something.Am I a freak because I have dreams of being a canibal?
Dreams are often less literal than we take them.

The next time you wake after you have one of these dreams, attempt to remember what was going on around you. Was it in color, or black and white? Which colors do you remember the best, maybe a yellow shirt on the cook, or a green table mat.

Were you scared to eat the human meat, or excited? Did it smell good?

The reality here is that you most likely are having some kind of personal problem. If there is something you have been feeling guilty about, or someone who you have been lying to a lot. Maybe you stole some money, or cheated on a loved one, or on a test, or maybe you have been neglecting to pay a late bill? Anything along this line could stir up a dream. We are very verbal dreamers. Your dream seems to say that something is "Eating Me Up Inside" or that it's "Eating You Alive!" These could be the source of your dreams, as you are a human, so eating a human is a very vivid form of self deprecation.

Now, if you are thinking about eating human flesh in your waking life, or dwelling on a desire to try it, then there is possibly some kind of metabolic problem. Most likely that you have anemia, or that you aren't getting enough iron.

In either case, a great way to find out more is to find a councilor who knows something about dream therapy. You may also want to tell your local doctor that you are having dreams about eating human meat, and that you'd like to have a blood panel done to be sure you aren't iron deficient. The problem is an easier fix than you think, you aren't a freak, you just need to find out whats going on inside your body that is making you feel this way.

Good Luck.Am I a freak because I have dreams of being a canibal?
No, noo..you are not a freak.

Dreams are the thoughts going on in your subconscience...it doesnt mean youd actually eat a person. Well, i dont know you, but the fact that you think its freaky and not normal means youre sane. Google Dream Dictionary and type in cannibal on the site. You see, dreams have hidden meanings. They usually reflect whats going on in your life...like if youre depressed you may have dreams of your teeth falling out..etc. Everything has symbolism.

Also things you were doing or watching on TV or talking about before you fell asleep could affect dreams.

    Or youre just hungry :B
You had this dream because in waking life something is eating away at you.you may be sending yourself a warning because you are allowing something to"consume"you and you need to break free from it.Hope this helps you!Am I a freak because I have dreams of being a canibal?
ahm... i don't think so coz last night i just dreamt of myself seeing a torn body. its brain is popping out. so you're not freak because you're not the only one whose suffering those things
no, I just think you really really like Hibachi.Am I a freak because I have dreams of being a canibal?
You're a freak for being an attention whore.

My birthday's coming up, too, and I recently received two "free birthday meal" offers.

Blue Canyon in Twinsburg has a Horseshoe Club. When you join it, you're eligible for a free meal on your birthday and anniversary. It used to be free to sign up, but there may be a fee now - - but it's worth it! Beautiful restaurant, good food. They have an outdoor patio now, too.

Damon's in Twinsburg also offers a buy one get one deal on your birthday when you sign up for their e-mail newsletter. Great place for ribs.

    Different ways to cook broccoli...?

I'm wanting to make broccoli tonite for dinner but i DO NOT want to steam them(if thats when you put it in a pot of water). I kinda wanna like fry it, something like hibachi, but i have no clue how to do that. If anyone knows how to do that or if you just have some different ways to cook broccoli, i would love to know your recipe! Thanks %26lt;3Different ways to cook broccoli...?
I like to saute may brocolli in extra virgin olive oil (til tender crisp) and you can add whatever else of veggies you like......if you want more, if not it is good alone....I also add pepper or other spices for seasoning.Different ways to cook broccoli...?
You can roast broccoli, and the taste is entirely different..it becomes "nutty" and a little crisp.

Just cut your head into huge spears. About 6 pieces for 1 entire bunch. Drizzle with olive oil, and roast at 425 degrees for about 20 minutes, or until you see the flowerettes turning brown and carmelizing.
just be creative. Saute it in some nice spices!!Different ways to cook broccoli...?
mix one cup flour and one cup beer into a batter dip the broccoli and fry.
Get some flavored olive oile like garlic and chopp it into bite size pieces. Then just use about two tables spoons of oil or more if you are making alot of it. just heat up long enough to get them hot but stil crunchyDifferent ways to cook broccoli...?
Stir fry it with a TINY bit of oil or use broth (or even water). Add some garlic (fresh is best, but powdered works, too).

If you want you could add some soy sauce or (even better) Hoisin sauce (or some other Chinese sauce).

To stir fry just get your pan really hot before you add the broccoli and it just takes a short amount of time (don't let it get very soft). Delicious!
Do a stir fry----peanut oil in a skillet or wok on high heat --add broccoli--and toss constantly for a minute, add 1/4 cup water, slap lid on, let cook for 2 minutes. Then add red bell pepper strips and stir fry with broccoli--salt and pepper and a little lemon juice

I like to add a bit of butter to finish and cook until the butter is browned to a golden color---gives a nutty flavor. The bright green and red are pretty on the plate.
    deep fry dem brocos!
Like Tone I saute it in a skillet heated with olive oil but I add crushed fresh garlic to that. Cook the broccoli just until tender. Add some shredded cheese on top, if you like.
    This is my family's favorite:

Cut broccoli into bite size pieces rinse, dry and toss into a gallon size bag. Into the bag add 2 tablespoons dark sesame oil and shake to coat evenly. Pour coated broccoli out into a heated pan (a Wok is great) and quickly heat through (about 3.5 minutes) then serve - we don't even salt or pepper this is is so good but you may season to taste. Good Luck!
You could bake it in the oven with some cheese sauce on it.

OR - In he summer we do it on the BBQ wrapped in foil with some Italian salad dressing sprinkled on it. You could do it in the oven that way as well.

Does anyone know the recipe for the TGI Fridays Asian - Lime Slaw ?

It is given as a side on the steak or chicken hibachi skewers.Does anyone know the recipe for the TGI Fridays Asian - Lime Slaw ?
TGI Friday's Copycat Cilantro Lime Dressing

1/4 cup fresh lime juice ( 1 good sized lime)

    1/4 cup fresh cilantro

    1/3 cup honey

1 garlic clove peeled %26amp; minced

    1 med sized jalapeno de-seeded de-ribbed

    3/4 tsp grated fresh ginger

    2 tsp balsamic vinegar

Salt to taste ( I used 6 pinches of kosher salt)

1/2 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Juice the lime to 1/4 cup - (I am restaurant background, so used one good

sized lime) wash and pick leaves off of several sprigs of cilantro, chop

coarsely to equal a heaping 1/4 cup peel and mince a garlic clove, if they

are small use 2, grate the fresh ginger, mince the jalapeno, put all of

the above in a food processor and process until every thing is very fine

pieces. Add the honey %26amp; balsamic vinegar process a little, then drizzle in

the olive oil. Salt to taste, I used 6 pinches of kosher salt. Table salt,

    don't use as much.

I used a little mini-Cuisinart to do all the processing, there are little

holes in the lid, perfect for drizzling the oil.

Monari Federzoni Balsamic vinegar of Modena - brand is good and sweet, and

easy on the pocketbook. Hint: buy fresh ginger, peel it and wrap chunks in

film and freeze. You'll always have it on hand, and it's easier to grate.

This is a very close match to Friday's. I read several here and online,

What's the soup that Fujiyama (pottstown pa) serves?

Fujiyama (halfway house/hibachi restaurant in pottstown) has a really good clear soup with mushrooms and scallions in it, what it is called and how do I make it? I think they only serve it in the summer time though because I went once in November and they weren't serving it anymore. Oh, this is also a dish that comes with the hiabchi menu, that's why I don't know what it's called because I've never ordered it, it just came with the meal. What's the soup that Fujiyama (pottstown pa) serves?

Can you drink alcohol on the beach in Wildwood, NJ?

I'm going to drink some beer regardless of the rules but I'm just wondering, because I heard that the Wildwood Crest area is dry, as in no alcohol.

That's a bit of a drag...but if they do not allow alcohol on the beach, how strictly is it enforced? I remember last year I went, did not bring beer on beach but my little hibachi style charcoal grill. The signs on beach said "No fires or grilling" but I did not care, I grilled up hotdogs and hamburgers and no one complained. The sea gulls got one of my burgers though, they are crazy! Can you drink alcohol on the beach in Wildwood, NJ?
Get a cooler full of beer and a green tinted soda bottle. Open your beer and pour it in your soda bottle and get blitzed! It's Jersey! Can you drink alcohol on the beach in Wildwood, NJ?
hell yeh, why not? if there is stoping you from drinking at that beach, maybe it's because they can't drink alcohol.

The Melting Pot (fondue place) is fun and romantic.

Japanese steak house is also a fun type of restaurant.

It all depends on what you have available near your area.

Our Mall has a cheesecake factory next to the cinema, that is a fun dinner place and then to a movie would be a good time.

I think each town has different things, so it is hard to sayI want to go somewhere for my birthday with my boyfriend?

    Help with surprise party plans?

I am planning a surprise dinner for a friend's 20th birthday. We are all having dinner and going to surprise her at a Hibachi restaurant. What else could we do at the restaurant? (i.e. games, conversation starters etc.)

Other than her husband, I don't really know her other friends, so I am concerned it may get awkward without something to fall back on.

Help would be greatly appreciated!Help with surprise party plans?
    Hey!

I would just play it by ear! Usually people will be chit-chatty and since it's at a hibachi restaurant, you should be entertained by the chef.

    Good Luck!

Need some suggestions for San Francisco?

I am going to San Francisco next month and would like info on a great seafood restaurant. I am looking for fresh and broiled or steamed seafood not covered in fats and sauces. Also looking for a great sushi spot and a great place for steaks and maybe a Japanese hibachi restaurant. Also looking for a good spa and any must do while in San Francisco. On my last trip I did get to Alcatraz but that was about it.Need some suggestions for San Francisco?
OK you have so many demands here LOL anyways ill try breaking it down for you.

Seafood Restaurants: You cant really go wrong with anything thats located on the Embacadero, as the WATER is RIGHT THERE. Grottos in Pier 39 is a popular place for seafood. Its pretty touristy but around Pier 39 theirs LOTS of seafood places their. Pricey but its FRESH, again the water is right there.

Japanese Food: Well yea, japan town has the best food. haha enough said.

Steaks: I have to recommend house of prime rib on Van Ness Ave. Big portions, fair prices.

Must Do's: Head out to the Embacadero, Union Square and Golden Gate Park. Take a Cable Car around the city. That should be about 4 days of fun right there for you.Need some suggestions for San Francisco?
For the sushi, go to Japan town.

In your family, is it a part of your culture that women eat less (should eat less) than men?

My friend and I often have lunch at this teppanyaki-Hibachi style restaurant and we started noticing that women seems to get lesser portion of the same order (same price) than men. Well I don't care much about it since I am satisfied with the portion I'm getting but my friend who is non-Asian asked me if it's a part of Asian culture that women eat less (or should eat less) than men. Is it really true?In your family, is it a part of your culture that women eat less (should eat less) than men?
not in my family. the women eat just as aggressively as the men in our family. :)In your family, is it a part of your culture that women eat less (should eat less) than men?
No it's not. From my grandparents on both sides, we are 100% Filipinos although my parents were born and raised here in the States. So am I and my siblings. We are not aware of this "gender inequality in eating" norm nor have I observed this among my Asian friends who are Vietnamese, Indians and fellow Fil-Ams.
not applicable to me.. I eat whatever I like in a bigger portion. Well.. maybe that's just me but I haven't heard things like that.In your family, is it a part of your culture that women eat less (should eat less) than men?
This is also not present in our family culture or whatever you may call it. Actually sometimes we girls eat much more than guys in our family.

Its a good thing that those people who you observed asked for a smaller portion of their food than leave it in their plates. Im not really comfortable seeing plates with a lot of unfinished food.
I doubt it if the issue can actually be considered as cultural,..but rather physiological.

And the thing with this restaurant that you have mentioned - rationally logical.

(less food wastage, greater profits)In your family, is it a part of your culture that women eat less (should eat less) than men?
    no
Not in my family. Both genders get the same portion depending on their appetites. We never limit food servings to women. Some women in our family are big eaters. They have voracious appetites for good food. LOL
It's probably more on the reason that Filipinas are generally petite-medium built so their food consumption is lesser than the male counterpart. Eating 5x a day too could probably contribute for not eating a lot on the next meal.
Maybe because its a Japanese Restaurant and they have this tradition of giving more to guys since Japanese men are superior over women?

This is interesting, maybe you can ask the restaurant and update us?

Is this too much to eat today, or a good amount?

I know it's not the healthiest but is it too much

Breakfast: frosted mini wheats in skim milk (250 calories)

Lunch: hibachi. 1 fried shrimp, shrimp, vegetables, lo mein and rice

Dinner: a piece of fruit because I had a big lunchIs this too much to eat today, or a good amount?
That doesn't sound like that much. But idk how big your lunch was but it doesn't sound like Alto. I use to eat like that much but now I am eating so much!Is this too much to eat today, or a good amount?
No :C You should eat at least 1,200 calories a day, and that's probably only 800 or less. Go eat some cake! Or something! Is this too much to eat today, or a good amount?
    no

Anyone know of a Brazilian restaurant in Dallas?

I was having dinner at a Japanese restaurant a few days ago and one of the other guests at the hibachi grill mentioned a Brazilian restaurant in or near Dallas. I love unique restaurants and would go to Dallas just for dinner if it's any good.

Although these are considered "Brazilian steakhouses", that's really all they are. I've been to Brazil (both Sao Paulo and Rio) and the food there was not only very good, but very different than what they have here.

There's actually a Brazilian Restaurant opening up in Keller (north of Fort Worth) if they haven't already, called "Tapas" and it's on the corner of Beach St. and Basswood (Close to I-35W and Loop 820). Will be very affordable and the peeps are from Northern Brazil, so you know they got the real deal.Anyone know of a Brazilian restaurant in Dallas?

I'm planning to attend an old friend's baby shower this evening. It will be held at a popular hibachi grill restaurant and we are expected to purchase our own meals and so forth. I typically like to have a glass of wine or maybe two when I eat at this place... so would it be rude to do so this evening?

My friend is nice and very bubbly so I'm pretty sure it wouldn't bother her but I just thought I'd ask for you guys' opinion. Thanks!Drinking wine at a baby shower. Is this rude?

You're paying for your own meal, so you can order what you like. Your pregnant friend probably won't drink anything, but there' s nothing wrong with having a glass of wine if you're paying for it yourself. Just don't take this opportunity to have one too many and get loud and foolish.

We took our baby to a hibachi restaurant for Daddy's birthday when baby was about 7 months old. It was no different than any other restaurant experience for him. Im sure if your 9 month old is well behaived. The japanese are very welcoming and have the most respect than all the people in the world.

And in my opinion im not sure if your 9 month old will like seafood too much but I guess you could give it a try. I would just have a snack ready for him/her in case they dont like it. And sadly to say you can not share your food so you would have to order the babies separetely.

Can you order just sushi at a hibatchi table?

I'm going with a group of people to dinner at a Hibachi place.I know you can sit at regular tables, but my friend reserved us a hibatchi table. Do you have to order the hibachi dinner if your at a table? or can you just order sushi and or a regular item from the menu? i assume most people at my table will be getting the hibatchi meal but i didnt know if it was wrong to not order it. can anyone help me with hibachi etiquette? thanksCan you order just sushi at a hibatchi table?
You being a customer, I don't see why it should be a problem when they should appreciate any business on any given day. Realize this, I don't think it would be good business if they only restricted sushi to be eaten at the bar when they at the same time could offer sushi and expand the revenue to the entire dining experience. With that said, it would be hard to find you having to be separated from your party. Now that could be definitely bad practice on their behalf. If you would like to assure yourself, perhaps you could talk to the host/hostess if one is available. Or simply call in for your party reservation and let them know of any special request(s). I'm pretty sure they'll be willing to accommodate you and your party. Hope this helps.

And I Dont Know What To Exspect. Should I Exspect Big? I Dont Want To Do That An Get Something Small Ahhh WHATTT? Im So Confussed. My Birthdays Coming Up What Should I Exspect?
Believe me if you don't expect anything your reaction would be "awww that's so wonderful"

But if you expect something big and get something small, you will be disappointed and sad.

So better not expect anything so that you would be surprised and happy than expecting things and then end up being disappointed afterwards :)My Birthdays Coming Up What Should I Exspect?
I think you shouldn't expect anything. If your old enough to be engaged, then your old enough to not expect anything for your birthday. If your going out to dinner, then I would think that that is more than enough. After all, you're not 5 years old anymore.

Japanse food - easy on the stomach?

My sweet sixteen is on Monday, and I'm planning on going out to this really fancy Japanese restuarant. The thing is, my mom is pregnant and isn't sure if she can handle the hibachi stuff. So I was wondering if anyone knew a particular Japanese dish (other than miso soup) that would be calming to the stomach? It is my birthday, but I don't want her to have a bad time of it.

Thanks!Japanse food - easy on the stomach?
Well, so long as she doesn't order anything spicy, the hibachi stuff should be fine. Just avoid anything tempura. Green tea would be a good choice for a drink. Get plain rice instead of fried. Try vegetarian options.Japanse food - easy on the stomach?
Have you seen what Japanese food does to those Sumu wrestlers?
I love Tonkatsu pork but that is deep fried so that might be a problem. What about some cucumber sushi (kappa makki) or egg sushi (tomago) and she just has soy sauce with it and ignore the wasabi? I hope this helps:)Japanse food - easy on the stomach?
    Japanse?yes

    chineese?NO a beef bowl,

rice. beef on top. onioins on top, top soy sause
how about noodles? it's called udon.Japanse food - easy on the stomach?
Ask the waiter at the restaurant what they would recommend. Say my mom is pregnant and I wanted to know what dishes you have that can be easy on her stomach or very calming.

As long as she doesnt have anything really heavy, fried or spicy she will prob be ok.
She should be fine with Hibachi cooked food. She just needs to cut back on fish and shellfish for the mercury content and all sushi (California Rolls are O.K.--they are not raw) for obvious reasons (raw foods are a no-no). She may like vegetable tempura, chicken teriyaki, steamed rice, miso soup and any katsu dish (fried chicken or pork).
Just choose wisely! Some may and some may not
I've always had problem with Japenese dishes, I've tried different things and none of them sit very well with me... But a few of my friends never have any problems. I guess it depends on the person and/or their system.
udon noodles in soup, they generally have a large selection with different types including seafood, chicken terriyaki, beef, breaded pork chops. ask if they have any steamed dishes like a steamed egg custard (very traditional japanese dish), steamed fish (like black cod with miso is very good)
If pregnant, she needs to avoid sushi or sashimi!

She ought to be able to eat the normal hibachi or teriyaki chicken w/ some plain steamed rice. She may want to skip the salad and mushroom soup, tho theugh broth is great.

Most japanese steak houses have fresh pineapple for dessert; I bet she'd like that, too.
    Beef bagogee....it is so good
I agree with the other person who says to ask the waiter for recommendations. Every restaurant, not just Japanese, cooks their food differently, so it is hard to tell what kind of Japanese restauarant you are going to... Generally speaking though, unless your mom already eats sushi or sashimi, she should stay away from anything raw (not that there is anything particularly wrong with it, but pregnant women tend to have "inflated" taste buds and seem sensitive to the sea taste....) so tell her to order something cooked like Teriyaki Chicken or TonKatsu. Some Japanese things are fried, like Tempura, but if it's an authentic Japanese restaurant, they will fry in Bran Oil which is quite easy on the stomach compared to other oils, like Peanut or Sesame....
try sukiyaki , udon, soba noodles

Does anybody know the recipe for the cream-like lemon sauce used in Japanese restaurants?

I know it has alot of butter in it as I took some home once and it separated in the microwave, but I'm not sure what else is in it. Lemon Butter Sauce

    Ingredients

    1 cup dry white wine

    3 lemons, peeled and quartered

    2 tablespoons minced garlic

    1 tablespoon minced shallots

    1 teaspoon salt

3 turns freshly ground black pepper

    1 dash Worcestershire sauce

    1 dash hot pepper sauce

    1/2 cup heavy cream

1/2 pound (2 sticks) unsalted butter, cut up, at room temperature

1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley

    Instructions

Heat a large nonreactive skillet over high heat. When the skillet is hot, add the wine, lemons, garlic, and shallots. Cook for 3 minutes, breaking up and mashing the lemons with a wire whisk. Stir in the salt, pepper, Worcestershire, and hot sauce and cook until the mixture is somewhat syrupy, for about 3 minutes. Stir in the cream and cook for 1 minute. Over low heat, whisk in the butter a few pats at a time. When all of the butter has been added, remove from the heat, but continue whisking until all of the butter is incorporated into the sauce. Strain the sauce, pressing all of the liquid into a bowl. Stir in the parsley. Serve immediately, or keep warm for a few minutes until ready to use.Does anybody know the recipe for the cream-like lemon sauce used in Japanese restaurants?

Well, I have family in Englewood New Jersey, however, I am not familiar with any thing there . But the best solution is to go on the internet then you can even find out the five star restaurants . Thats what I do. You can never really ask anyone since everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

Has anybody eaten at Japanese Hibachi Steak House behind Dave and Busters?

Would this be a fun place to go for a birthday celebration? Did anybody ever see a birthday done there?Has anybody eaten at Japanese Hibachi Steak House behind Dave and Busters?
I ate there a while ago. It's good food, it was not crowded at all. I don't think I'd classify it as a "fun" place to have a birthday...although if you're looking for quiet and intimate for a group of friends, it would be a good place to go.

There's not a ton of "up-scale" places on Deleware Ave. You might also consider the Moshulu (http://www.moshulu.com/site/main.asp).

But if you want fun and don't mind loud and busy, just go to Dave %26amp; Busters....video games, pool, skee ball, virtual golf, pinball. They have a room you can rent for bigger sized parties.Has anybody eaten at Japanese Hibachi Steak House behind Dave and Busters?
It was good food... I would probably not have a birthday done there but it would depend on the age

I would go there to eat and then go to D and B for some funHas anybody eaten at Japanese Hibachi Steak House behind Dave and Busters?

15th Birthday Party @ Shogun 22 Hibachi Steak House. I need help fast!!!?

I'm inviting 10 people. Is it fine for my guests to pay for their meals?

Also, how long would the show and eating last about?

I was thinking maybe 2 hours, but is that too short? 3 hours then?

After eating and seeing them make our food, what else could we do?

And how much money should I tell them to bring? $20-40?

What's the best thing for us to buy? I have no idea what my friends would think either, the menu is so friggen long (though thats also a good thing, lol). its on the website. shogun22.net

How early should i tell the restaurant about it (do I even need to make reservations?) and like how much would it cost for a table and stuff (or its free?)

And my birthday is about a week away, how late can I send invitations? I'm sending them through facebook as an event and calling one of my friends w/o a facebook. I feel bad though..like should I just avoid the topic with other friends I couldn't invite? I'd feel too overwhelmed to have so many people and worrying if they're entertained and such15th Birthday Party @ Shogun 22 Hibachi Steak House. I need help fast!!!?
If you can't afford to "tip" then don't go to a restaurant. Go to McDonalds. The people that serve you food rely on your tips to survive. If you don't tip, they have no money. Servers only make $2.13 an hour, plus they have to tip out bartenders, bussers, and food runners ( sometimes hostess too).

On the other hand. I think this is a bit pricey for a 15 year old, to invite friends. I would never pay $40.00 for my 15 year old to eat out with his friends. But, maybe your friend's parents will. If you want to go to this restaurant make your parents take you. If you are not "made " of money, I would pick something else. Maybe Chilis. That would be a bit more in your budget.15th Birthday Party @ Shogun 22 Hibachi Steak House. I need help fast!!!?
They should AT LEAST bring $45 dollars with them. a meal will cost around 26-30 dollars, plus a good tip, especially if your are having more then 8 people. And yes, it's okay to tell them to pay for their own meal. I had my boyfriends birthday at a hibachi restaurant, and I paid for 5 meals, and the friends picked up the drink check.

Happy birthday!15th Birthday Party @ Shogun 22 Hibachi Steak House. I need help fast!!!?
Yes you should tip. It would be really bad if you didnt.

Not only tip your server but the chef as well.

Nothing bad will happen if you dont, just karma.

If you cant afford it maybe you should think about going somewhere else. Everyones meal will be over $20 easy. I hope you dont expect your friends to pay for their meal AND buy you a gift. You could do the Shogun Party Package, that is $26.95 per person.

My advice is to just go there with one or two best friends another time and do your birthday dinner somewhere else. It would be really bad if you went and people couldnt afford to eat.
