Why does Gilbert Areneas scream "Hibachi" after he makes a shot?

He's hungryWhy does Gilbert Areneas scream "Hibachi" after he makes a shot?
He is stating that he is on fire!

The psychology of this is that it is his way of keeping a hot streak going. Players sometime get "in a zone" where they are simply on fire and feel like they can't be stopped. This is his way of staying focused and continuing his hot streak. That and it probably keeps him loose. It is funny and things like this can get inside the opponents head and throw them off track a little.

i would always yell "girls" when i was feelin it back in high school. people would try to figure out what the hell i was talkin about, and then they would be insulted, because it is pretty much saying you are playing against a bunch of girls who can't stop you.Why does Gilbert Areneas scream "Hibachi" after he makes a shot?

I was wondering that too ... I know it has pissed some people off ... when Arenas went for 50 on the suns earlier this year, some of the suns players took acception to it (him yelling habatchi) and there was almost a fight after the game

... heres your answer

Gilbert Arenas makes "hibachi" a neologism

During the 2006-2007 National Basketball Association season, Washington Wizards point guard Gilbert Arenas began to shout the word as he took field goal attempts in games, explaining, "You know, a hibachi grill gets real hot. That's what my shot's like, so I've been calling it that: 'Welcome to the hibachi'."[1] He has also stated that while he is scoring on opponents, he is "cooking chicken and shrimp" in reference to his "Hibachi grill," and that if his opponent wanted to double team him, he would "cook filet mignon" as well. "The Hibachi" has quickly become Arenas' nickname.

There was even a banner made for him "Arenas 'hibachied' Kobe". As Kobe is the place where the world famous Kobe steak orginated. This was referring to the game when Arenas outscored Kobe Bryant 60 to 45.

The term "Hibachi" is now catching on to describe players who are "hot".Why does Gilbert Areneas scream "Hibachi" after he makes a shot?
